Editorial and Fact-Checking Policy
People send our letters to schools, employers, banks and offices, so the format and every claim in them must be right. These are the standards every page on Letters and Applications meets.
Format
- Each letter follows the format used in India for its type: school applications, formal letters, informal letters, emails and notices.
- Salutations and closings match (for example, Dear Sir/Madam with Yours faithfully).
Rules and claims
- Where a letter mentions a rule, such as a notice period, maternity leave or a bank procedure, we say that it depends on the employer, the bank or the applicable law, unless the rule is fixed and certain.
- We never name real companies, banks or people in sample letters.
- Exam formats follow what Indian school boards commonly expect; always follow your own question paper.
